TASK: Research and examine the culture and lifestyles of students from Pearl Academy in India. Students worked on teams with both RIT and Pearl students to help and support each other with their research, the authenticity of the information, and design work.

SOLUTION: A clever look into the basic rules of the game of cricket, taught by crickets.
Research
After consulting with students from Mumbai, I chose cricket as the topic for my animation because my knowledge of the game was very small and the impact of the game on their lifestyle was large.
My teammates in India were able to correct and re-route my research on the rules of the game.
Audience
Realizing how little my friends and I knew about cricket, I decided to cater my animation to a college student that wants to learn the basic rules of cricket after his friends invited him to join in on a game.
Inspiration
To keep the audience engaged, I created textures and line styles that keep the viewer guessing and interpreting the environment. The style I chose is based on Charlie and Lola, the early 2000s animated children’s show.
I have always adored the mixture of flat texture with a rough, quick illustrative style. The movement of the characters is geometric and stiff, but their personalities are approachable. The main character in my animation will follow this movement style.
Sketches
My main cricket went through a series of identities. At first, he looked more like a cricket you would see in nature, then he was simplified to a more humanesque cricket walking upright with minimal buggy features.
Storyboards
In my planning, I focused on making transitions from on scene to the next as clean and unpredictable as possible.
Final Look
The animation turned out quirky, cute, and informative.
