I wanted my timeline to consume the viewer. I considered the reactions that my viewers would have to the startling scale of a 7.5 foot tall Bigfoot painting. The shock factor was my hook, but the bigger shock was yet to come.

As the viewers navigate the timeline and learn about the appropriation of Indigenous People’s legends of large beasts, I ask the viewer to confront their own perceptions of the legend and to evaluate how they previously came to those conclusions.

Viewers follow the numbered trail markers in their trail guide, which correspond to blocks of text on the painting that tell the history of Bigfoot.
